i made this today thinking about the story. it's a little generic-looking and way too shiny but it's fun
here is update from today: new environments and ideas for levels. i'm waiting to populate these places with "game things" unitl the time is right. for now, i'm making sure it's fun just to exist in this place . I don't think this shiny look will be the final product but it helps me get the gears turning to see things in such hi res. Reminds me of places that I've really been, and i'm excited by that idea.

idk but i think that boss levels in the style of these straightforward things would be super fun. maybe even bullet hell style, super difficult, but totally fair. Like playing guitar hero on expert. I think these would be "races" where you'd have to follow rivals and maintain a certain distance the whole time. Like many things from 3D platformers, this is not a mission that is remembered very fondly, but done right i think it could be really fun.
the biggest difference with this section is that the camera is locked in one orientation. Designing for these levels would be all about style

have been doing a lot of work on pen and paper lately for this game. I think i'm approaching the story that is goin 2 tie all of this game together. In terms of real updates, here's something for the next build :

another day dedicated 2 this game. excited about the quick progress. for fun i decided to test it with some old scool n64 models I downloaded. I think it's time i actually cleaned up the code. I'm only a few weeks into this, but it feels good. results here:
i learned something from this. I think i have to continue with a low poly look. I'm hitting my head against unity trying to create "accurate" half pipes etc and it's not the best use of my time. unity physics is kinda crazy and until i get a better grip on working in it, i'm gonna make some simple geo. I have bigger fish to fry anyways.......
